This is a 36-stepper

Despite the somewhat hard-edged surface, the story behind “36 Views” is as elusive and delicate as many of the Oriental artworks that the characters talk about.  To kick off their current season, Constellation Theater down at the Source Theater space in DC does a very good job with this intricate house of cards where honesty and loyalty are much sought after but increasingly rare commodities.
