Berliner outlines plans for Montgomery County Council



As the members of the Montgomery County Council  return from their recess this week, President Roger Berliner said the council will be focusing on an oversight meeting with the WSSC in regards to the power loss during the June 29 derecho storm, an “effects bargaining” ballot initiative, a bike share initiative and economic development legislation.

At the county council session on Sept. 11, at 10:05 the council will have a legislative session on Bill 25-12, Taxation - Impact Tax - Bikesharing, sponsored by Council President Berliner and Councilmember Ervin.  The public hearing for this topic is scheduled for Oct. 23 at 1:30 pm.

In addition, Bill 21-12, Erosion, Sediment Control and Stormwater Management - Coal Tar Pavement Products will be called for final reading in this week’s council session.  The T&E Committee recommended enactment of this bill.

At 10:20 at the session, the council will introduce Zoning Text Amendment 12-14, Bikeshare Facilities - Incentives, sponsored by Council President Berliner and Councilmember Ervin.  A public hearing on this topic is scheduled for Oct. 23 at 1:30 pm.

The WSSC meeting will take place on Thursday Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m. with the Transportation and Energy Committee.  This will also be televised live on County Cable Montgomery.
