The Bethesda Big Train baseball team (21-5) has secured the No. 1 spot in the Cal Ripken league with the playoffs less than three weeks away.
The Bethesda Community Base Ball Club (BCBBC), founded in April 1998 and incorporated under Maryland law as a charitable organization, later merged with the Bethesda-Chevy Chase team in early 2012.
Brunvoll played for Avalon High School from 2008 to 2011 and holds the school's single season, and all-time home run records.

Avalon won its fourth Maryland Private School Class B state championship over Old Line Baseball Conference rival St. Maria Goretti 1-0.
POTOMAC- The Avalon Black Knights continued their run in the Maryland State B Tournament Saturday, advancing to Wednesday's championship game with a 5-3 semi-final win against Maria Goretti. Avalon compiled 11 hits over the course of the game, including two hits by both Mark Searles and Conor Sloan.
QUINCE ORCHARD – The magic is still there for last year’s state champions.
Shutout through six innings and down to its last out in the seventh, Northwest was able to pull off a thrilling extra-inning win with three runs in the eighth inning to get the 4-1 comeback victory over Quince Orchard and move onto the regional quarterfinals in the Maryland 4A West playoffs.
