Head Coach: Eric Wallich

Last Year’s Record: 9-3

Returning offensive starters: 7

Returning defensive starters: 7

Likely toughest opponent: Seneca Valley

Offensive strengths: skill positions

Offensive weaknesses: everything

Defensive strengths: linebacker, secondary

Defensive weaknesses: line

Offensive outlook: Sophomore QB Chase Williams returns to lead the offense along with talented classmate Jalen Christian who already holds offers from five FBS schools. Virginia commit Zach Bradshaw and RB Trevor Patton are also expected to make an impact.

Defensive outlook: Senior LB George Vinson, a Buffalo commit, returns to lead the Swarmin’ Hornets defense. The three-year starter amassed a team-high 113 tackles last season. Rashard Budd mans the defensive line.

Special teams: Bradshaw handled the punting duties in the preseason and freshman Joseph Curry has emerged as the placekicker. “He’s going to be really good,” said Wallich, who also noted that Bradshaw and Christian are also penciled in to handle the kick return duties.

Coach’s comments: “We always expect to compete for a state championship and that really is never going to change.”

Scouting Report: The Swarmin’ Hornets are loaded at the skill positions with Bradshaw, Christian, Patton and Williams leading the way. Vinson and Budd are among the county’s top defensive stalwarts.

Break away potential: The schedule includes Clarksburg, Sherwood and Seneca Valley but the Swarmin’ Hornets should be able to go toe to toe with the aforementioned opponents. Expect at least eight wins and don’t be surprised if they run the table during the regular season.
