Watkins Mill LAX stomps Paint Branch

laxMONTGOMERY VILLAGE – The Watkins Mill boys’ lacrosse team received a standout performance from several players on Tuesday in the Wolverines’ 12-3 home victory over Paint Branch.

The win helped the Wolverines improve to 2-0 while Paint Branch remained winless with four consecutive losses to start the season.

Watkins Mill midfielders Dean Wess Jr. and Sergio Mosquera each netted a hat trick and registered an assist in the win while attackmen Shane Soghomonian and Vladimir Baires scored two goals apiece.

Meanwhile, Paint Branch senior attack Tery Lively was responsible for scoring two of the Panthers three goals.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 1-0 lead before Paint Branch junior midfielder Javan Grafton tied the game at 1-1. However, Watkins Mill proceeded to score eight unanswered goals en route to the win.

Watkins Mill head coach Randy Thompson said he was pleased that various players contributed in the win.

“That’s always a good thing,” said Thompson, “because teams can’t hone in on one person, which is kind of where we’ve been in the past. We’ve been real one-dimensional as far as having one guy that can shoot or one guy that can pass and things like that.”
