Oakland Raiders wide receiver and Silver Spring native Darrius Heyward-Bey was hospitalized after taking a blow to the head in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 34-31 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Meanwhile, Avalon junior defensive back Isaac Boyd was carted off the field with a concussion in the second quarter of Friday night’s 43-8 loss to Bullis. Boyd, who gave the thumbs up sign as he left the field on a stretcher, was taken to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. He was released Sunday
